The Milton Elementary and Middle Outdoor Classroom and Community Garden is meant to be an accessible outdoor learning space for students of all ages and abilities. School Gardens have been shown to apply to a multitude of curriculum, from Science to English and Social Studies, and we work with teachers to get students outside of the traditional classroom setting and into the outdoors. There are so many benefits to working in gardens, including creating a greater sense of environmental stewardship to increasing physical activity. We are so excited to be using our outdoor classroom to teach today's modern students where food comes from, how it is grown, and the hard work that goes into producing the foods that end up on our plates.
