Each class in our school has a garden bed. In the spring, the students start seeds indoors or plant directly, depending on their crop. They plant a new crop each year. Over the summer, students and parents volunteer weeding time. In the fall, students return to school and harvest their crop. They weigh and document their crop. Each class harvests, washes, and prepares (usually chopping) garden vegetables for cooking or serving raw. Each harvest becomes a free all-school snack.
