This is the time of year for recommitting to health goals, making new habits, and embarking on new endeavors to raise the quality of our lives and the lives of our neighbors. As we work to keep our resolutions, it behooves us to ask ourselves: What tools can help us meet your our goals? Maybe that tool is signing up for an exercise class or a CSA membership; purchasing a new gadget or getting rid of a distracting one.
Being a part of a gardening organization you might say we’re a bit partial to one particular tool that can help you put fresh healthy food on your table, get you outside and active, provide you with opportunities to connect and share your bounty with friends, colleagues and neighbors, and support your goals to learn new skills. Well, gardens of course:)
You can start a garden in your backyard, on your porch, at your community gathering spot, at your school. But today we’d like to focus on a less common but equally beneficial place to start growing–your workplace. Workplace gardens can bring all of the benefits mentioned above as well as be used as a team building tool, a place to take a breather in the middle of your work day, and an easy way to add some green to your plate at lunchtime.
We reached out to some employee gardeners around the state to hear how their workplace gardens help to meet personal and company/organizational goals. Here’s what they have to say: Workplace gardens videos
