It’s our 25th anniversary and we want to celebrate with you!
We started in 2001 as Friends of Burlington Gardens in the home of Jim Flint. It took many leaders, volunteers and supporters over the years to grow from the grassroots gardening education organization to the portfolio of VGN managed teaching garden plots and a propagation greenhouse that we operate today.
We honor the historical roots and want to share an early article that was prophetic in naming the importance of building our community through hands-on gardening education all while placing food sovereignty at the forefront of our work.
Another historical reflection on gardening through the pandemic was recently recorded with StoryCorps; A great tale of how Shift Meals led to the Collective Garden model of today.
Stay tuned for more origin stories and our upcoming workshops scheduled throughout 2026. We invite you to come to a free public event and continue the momentum of growing together.
Please consider a donation to our 25th Anniversary campaign to help us teach even more Vermonters how to grow nutrient-dense food.
